History of Warcraft

Several members have asked about the history of Warcraft, i responded by saying it is too long to tell you in the game, and ill post it in the fourms. Here is a list and discription of the races and important characters.

---main races:

night elfs, defend the world from the undead/buring legion, World tree gants the the power to live forever, they give this power up to defeat archimond.

humans, ruled most of the world, use to use orcs as slaves until they all escaped to kalimdor.

orcs, were summoned from outland, by the prophet, to take over the world for the buring legion, but failed twice, they eventually were able to escape from the evil, this turned all the orcs from red to green, made them weaker, and changed all orc warlocks into orc shamens.

tauren, were aided by the orcs when the orcs first came to kalimdor.

trolls, they always hung with the orcs. some left them and lived in the jungle, (thats where the jungle trolls come from, who are green and not blue)

undead, used by the burning legion to take the world a third time after the orcs couldnt. there are 3 types of undead, the buring legeions'', who all have been defeted except the dreadlords, arthas'', reside in northerand, and sylvannas'', who we see in the game of world of warcraft.

dwarfs, allied to the humans, very smart in mechanics, besides the goblins, they have the mechanical machines.

---sub-races: (there are many more, but these are a few of the more important ones)

satyrs, who were once night elfs but were banished by the night elfs due to their evil ways,

nagas, once were night elfs but their city was sunken and they addopted to underwater life over many years.

blood elfs, once were high elfs, changed their name after arthas destroyed their kingdom, they have a hunger for magic power, and illidan promises them that he can feed it.

daerines, live in another dimension where the orcs are orignally from, they are in constand battles between the chaos orcs. illidan saves them while in outland.

gnomes, part dwarf, they are always been seen with the dwarfs in all the warcrafts. they mostly create/pilot high tech war machines. ie: Gyrochopters and Flying Machines from WarCraft III.

goblins, neutral mercaniers, greedy, will do anything for money. good with mechanical machines.

---important characters: (there are alot more who i didn''t mention)

archimond, the leader of the buring legion. he fails to destroy the world tree, and the buring legion falls after his death.

jania proudmore is a good human, was called upon by the prophet and sided with thrall and tyranda to defeat the burning legion. was kicked out of her kingdom by her father for siding with the orcs. her father denyed to help save the world from the burning leagion, and he believed he didnt need any help to defend his own kingdom.

Sylavannas windrunner, the leader of the undead, was a high elf ranger, she then vowed to kill arthas after he damned her and destroyed her kindgom to summon someone who i cant remember.

arthas was a noble prince, until he chased a dreadlord into northerand. It was a trap, so his people ran to the boats to fee home, in return he beat them all there and destroyed the boats, blamed it on mercaniers he had hired, and told them that they will stay and fight. there he meets a dwarf friend who was on a lost expidetion, and thought to be dead. the dwarf tells arthas of a powerful sword that might be strong enough to save them. arthas finds the sword and now the sword owns arthas, after the battle against the undead there, arthas wins, and remains on the frozen lands and all his people die. He finally returns home and slays his father, afther his father greets him, he declares that the kingdom of loredaron shall fall. arthas then follows the swords commands to unite with the Lich king. illidan is hired by the lich kings master to stop arthas, but he fails

the lich king, commonly know as the lick king, is a creation of one of the members of the burning legion, the lich king turned on his master and attempted to kill him, in return the lich kings creator banished the lich king in a frozen throne in northerand.

illidan, is malfurion''s brother. illidan was sent to jail for enterity for his uses in evil magics. his magics caused illidan to go blind, but he has this third eye that can see everything. illidan is hired by the lich kings master to stop arthas. on the way, illidan unites with the satyrs, nagas,
blood elfs, and daerines. sadly illidan fails in killing arthas, so he flees to outland, and defeted the black cidital and to outland his own.

tyranda, the leader of the night elfs and wife to illidans brother, was called upon by the prophet and sided with thrall and jania to defeat the burning legion. let illidan free so that he can help her defeat the undead, but instead illidan runs.

malfurion, husband of tyranda, head druid, he is very angry because he woke up on the wrong side of the bed, was asleep with all the other druids, so that thier magics wont become evil. tyranda, called upon them and awakened them to aid in defeating the burning legion.

Thrall, the leader of the orcs, was called upon by the prophet and sided with jania, and tyranda to defeat the burning legion, called doutar their new home, after escaping as slaves of the humans.

6/02/05 Fixed the Gnome info, after discroving that those are actually Gnomes, not Dwarfs, flying the Flying Machines in WarCraft III.

This is the basic story line:

a long time ago, before the story began, the Burning Leagion lead the scourge to destroy the world of Azeroth. The Night Elfs united with the World Tree (this enabled them to live for enterity) and stood against the Undead Scourge. Luckly the Night Elfs won, and the Burning Legion fleed.

During the first war, WarCraft I, The Prophet opened a Demonic GateWay to Outland, Through this gate way Choas Orcs lead by a PitLord (can''t remember his name), attempted to take over the world of Azeroth a second time, for the Burning Legion. Luckly the Humans won, and now took orcs as their slaves.

During the second war, WarCraft II, just like the firstwar, the Chaos Orcs lost to the Humans.

During the third war, WarCraft III, the Burning legion was fed up with the Chaos Orcs, so they raised the Undead Scourge again to take over the world of Azeroth. The orcs slowly regained their freedom from the Pit Lord, but they were still held captive by the Humans, At this point most of them managed to escape and had small Clans outside of the Humans control. The story starts out as The Prophet (He is now a Guardian) contacting Thrall in his sleep. Thrall now follows the lead of The Prophet to Kalimador. The Prophet also contacts the Huamn king of Stormwind, He declines and the king said he and his people will remain to defend their land. The Prophet then finds Jania Proudmore to help, she takes her people to Kalimador. Finally the Prophet contacts Tyranda Windwisper, She is heasitend at first, but finally agrees to accept help to defend the World Tree from the second attack by the Undead Scourge. After the defete of Archimond, the last Guardian (The Prophet) proves his point, that the world does not need guardians and mortals can protect their own world, So he then takes rest in the stars with all of the other Guardians.

during and after the Third war, there is a background story about Arthas. Arthas was a prince of Loerdan. After an attack by the undead lead by a DreadLord, Arthas chases them all the way to Northerand. Here in Northerand he meets a Dwarfen friend, and finds out that it was a trap. Together they seek out a magic sword that has a curse upon it. Arthas picks it up to save his people, when doing so it''s magics kill his Dwarfen friend. Arthas then kills all of the undead, and the DreadLord with this sword. He is the only one left now. A few months later he returns to Loerdan and slays his father(the king of Loerdan). Arthas then does all this other stuff that a lich asks him to do for the Lich King. Arthas takes over the High Elf city to ressurect this lich. He also damns Sylvannas Windrunner, who was an High Elf Ranger. Sylvannas then joins forces with the remaining DreadLords, to kill Arthas. meanwhile Arthas moves to Noerthand and meets with a Crypt Lord, he then aids him to fuse with the Lich King in the Frozen Throne. Sylvannas takes over Loerdan and builds the Under City under the ruins of its capital.

Now after the Third War, The king of Stormwind attacked the Orcs in Kalimador. Rexxar visits Thrall in Dortar. Thrall asked Rexxar with aid of the Shadow Hunter to fend off the attacking Humans. Between Battles they come across Jania. She tells them that this is a big mistake. Soon after Jania''s father shows, he attempts to take Jania captive but she teleports away. He is determined to destroy the Orcs.

Now what sets up the fractions is World of WarCraft is as follows. (Only applies to the two playable fractions)
-Humans and orcs are against each other as the paragraph above describes.
-Dwarfs have always been allied with the Humans.
-Gnomes are a part of the Dwarf civilazition. Therefore they are allied to the Humans.
-Night Elfs wont rest until there is no more undead in the world. And the Undead have destroyed the human lands of Loerdan, therefore Night Elfs and Humans are allied.
-Trolls have always been allied with the Orcs.
-Orcs aided the Tauren in Kalimdor by defeating several cenaturs and harpies.
-Undead, well everyone was against the Undead. But what is strange is that the fact that the story isn''t complete here. The bonus Orc Campaign in WarCraft III was never fully updated to this point. This bonus Orc Campaign only went just past the part where the Humans attack the Orcs in Kalimador...nothing more.

Good stuff Fed! I''m thinking about making a forum for lore where we can keep stuff like this, as well as any stories if anyone feels like writing one.

I am missing information that completes the reason why Undead, rulled by Sylavannas, is allied with the Orcs, Tauren, and Trolls. The story line for this part was spossed to be created in the Bonus Orc Campaing, but this was never finished. If anyone has any information please let me know so I can add it above.

Also the red orc fedolas was talking about were Fel Orcs and when they broke free they became green just like he said. Also I think this answers your question Fed. The undead that Sylvanis rules are called the Forsaken, the Forsaken were once part of the Scourage (the scourage are the ones under the control of the Lich King) however, when the Lich King became weak some of the scourage and including Sylvanis broke free from the Lich King''s control and were thus outcast from the rest of the scourage they were very happy that they had their free wills back that they broke away from the scourage. However, Sylvanis realized that even though they have their free wills back they would not be excepted by all the other races because of the fact that they still looked and were undead, thus they knew they would be outcasted from everyone so they called themselves the forsaken (which makes alot of sense Razz

).

One more thing I would like to mention is that Archimonde is not the leader of the burning legion, the Titan Sargaras is the leader and Archimonde and Kil''jaedin (creator of the LIch King) are high generals in the burning legion.

Also Fed I think this is alot of info for the people maybe we should post pictures of the characters to make this more interesting.

Don''t hate a man for attempting to remeber names in a game he played three years ago.

But i do remeber that..

The Lich King has been locked away in the Frozen Throne for thousands of years. After he attempted to destroy his creators. The lich king never had control over Slyvannas. Arthas had control over Sylvannas until he had them things that looked like heart attacks (a side effect to That sword Frostmourne). Once arthas was too weak Sylvannas broke free from his control. Slyvannas allied with the DreadLords due to the fact that they both want Arthas dead.

The Fel orcs = Chaos orcs, but this is a little bit tad wrong. Chaos Orcs are the orcs that drank the blood from the pit lord, during the third war, when they were green. Fel orcs were always red,these are the orcs that came from Outland during the first war.

Yes there is much of this story that is easily forgotten. Please if you have an argument to anything i stated in the above post please correct me. This saves more time then playing the Story mode again. ( i played it 3-4 times already)
