---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TLDR Crowd (Too Long, Didn't Read):
1) Install required raid pack
2) Make a list of the items you want for each slot
3) When one of those items is announced send a bid to the person doing loot
4) You can only bid off spec/greed on items that aren't your main role
5) Come to each raid, prepared and on time.
6) Don't complain about anything unless you read the full post below.

As long as you do the above you WILL get loot, and you will get it fairly.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

General Overview:

We're using an EPGP loot system in WotLK. This system may seem a bit complex, but it's actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

There are three numbers you need to know. The first is Effort Points (EP); you earn EP like you would DKP. You'll get it by attending the raid and coming prepared, for a complete list see below (awards). The second is Gear Points (GP) you accumulate GP whenever you win an item in our system. The amount of GP an item is worth is calculated taking several factors into account including item quality (epic/rare, etc), item level, and slot. This will be calculated by an add-on, which is included in our required add-on raid pack. If you're interested in details in how this is calculated you can go to: http://code.google.com/p/epgp/wiki/GearPoints. Your priority (PR) is determined by dividing your EP by your GP. The higher the resulting number (PR) the higher your priority on the list.

EP / GP = PR

Every Saturday after the raid we will decay both EP and GP by 20%. This prevents inflation/hoarding of points. It also allows new players to enter into the system and catch up once they become dedicated raiders. Note that because both EP and GP are decayed, your PR will remain the same.
ONLY Tullen should decay EP/GP, unless another officer is specifically instructed. This is to avoid mistakes.

Here are the things you can earn and lose EP for:

Awards:
50EP for being on time
150EP for being ready to raid (spec, gear gemmed, enchanted, consumables, add-ons, signed up)
200EP End of every hour
250EP Bonus for staying until end of a 2-hr PROGRESSION raid
500EP Bonus for staying until end of a 4-hr PROGRESSION raid
300EP Bonus for staying to the end of a raid that was not filled
250EP Bonus for being there when a boss is first downed

Penalties:
-200EP for no show despite sign-up
-150EP for leaving before the end
-300EP for non-raid spec
-200EP for prolonged AFK
-500EP for not coming within 10 minutes when called up from sitouts

Minimum EP: 5000

Estimated full value for progression 2 hr raid: 800 EP
Estimated full value for non-progression 2 hr raid: 550 EP

Estimated full value for progression 4 hr raid: 1650 EP
Estimated full value for non-progression 4 hr raid: 950 EP

Progression raids are defined as raids where we are still working on at least one boss. I'd consider this to be a boss we've killed less than 3 times.

Penalties will be applied at the raid leaders/loot officers discretion. I set the penalties with the occasional urgent situation in mind. I picked numbers that would not kill a good raider who occasionally incurred a penalty, but would really stack up for repeat offenders.

Minimum EP is 5000; this means that anyone with at least 5000 gets priority on items. Everyone below 5000 still uses the system; just those above 5000 get first shot. This prevents a person from coming to their first raid and winning loot over someone who comes regularly. It also requires people come to at least a certain amount of raids to maintain their priority. This functions similarly to raid attendance we've used in previous systems.

Sitouts/Raid invites:

SIGN-UPS CLOSE 2 HOURS BEFORE INVITES GO OUT.

All qualified sit-outs will receive EP as if they were in the raid, as long as they are still available for the raid. Earning sit out points and not coming when asked will result in forfeiture of all points gained that night, plus -500EP. The guild attendance officer will track sitouts in a spreadsheet available to the officers/raid leaders.

We do invites based on how often you've sat out in previous raids, while keeping raid balance in mind. This means that in some cases some will sit out more than others, especially in an overpopulated class/role. If your performance is extraordinarily low you may also be asked to sit out at your role leaderís discretion until you improve your performance/gear. DPS classes that consistently do less than 4k DPS (updated for ICC) will usually be asked to sit out until they improve. Other roles tend to be more subjective.

For bosses we're struggling with, the raid leader/guild master will likely request a raid make-up which will ensure success regardless of the participants' sit-out records. Wiping for hours on end for the sake of fairness is neither fair, nor beneficial for anyone involved.

If you are sitting out, join the channel scaleouts (/join scaleouts). When asked to report say youíre here. If you happen to be on an alt be sure to say the name of your main when you report. Those not reporting in a timely manner may not receive points, so be sure to pay attention. Most have found it helpful to change the color of that channel so itís easy to spot.

You can only earn points in sitouts if you signed up for the raid. We will allow a member to earn points if they forgot, but not more than once every 30 days. In addition new members will have a 1 week grace period. If we notice members intentionally coming late just to sitout we'll address them on a case by case basis.

Off spec/Alts:

- The ONLY occasion you may bid off spec on an item is if it not for your main raiding role, this means you can't bid off spec for side grades or "greed"
- Alts share points with their mains.
- Alts will not normally be invited to a raid unless the raid leader specifically asks for reasons of balance.
- Alts may bid off spec on any item they can use. The will receive equal off spec priority on all items.
- Alts can elect to spend points for their main role, mains will still retain priority, but the alt will get precedence over off spec bids if they elect to spend points (Click off spec and state your intentions in vent)
- Mains may elect to spend points on an off spec item, in which case they would get the same priority as an alt doing the same. (Click off spec and state your intentions in vent)

Reference information:
This information is useful mainly for loot officers, but is available for anyone who is interested in how loot is distributed in certain situations.

Recipes:

Loot Council, unless there are at least 2 in the guild already. At which point the eligible crafters over minimum EP roll. This applies to recipes that do not create BoP items.

Orbs:

Members above minimum EP can bid on BoE crafted items. The cost will be determined by multiplying the number of orbs in the recipe by the cost of that particular orb. Members are responsible for supplying all non-orb mats. Orbs are not up for bid individually.

Runed Orbs: 25 GP
Crusader Orbs: 40 GP
Primordial Sarronite: 70 GP

Items with two GP cost:

Some items in the system have two GP cost, we handle those items as listed below. Note that anytime someone pays the full GP for an item, they get priority over those who are not.

* 2H Weapon:
- If it is going to be used as an offhand (TG warriors for example) they pay the lower price
- If it is going to be used by a hunter the modifier becomes 1 they pay the lower price
- All other cases pay full price

* 1H Weapon:
- If it is going to be used by a hunter they pay the lower price
- If it is going to be used by a tank for tanking purposes they pay the lower price
- If it is going to be used as an off-hand they pay the lower price
- All other cases pay full price

* Shield:
- If it is going to be used by a tank for tanking purposes they pay full price
- All other cases pay lower price

* Ranged:
- If it is going to be used by a hunter they pay full price
- All other cases pay lower price

Loot priority chain:

(Native item is defined as the highest armor type a character can wear, i.e. mail for shamans, cloth for priest, etc. In the case of weapon slots it refers to items where you pay full GP cost)

Note that if someone is willing to pay main hand price for a weapon they'll use as offhand, they will receive the native priority for an item.

1) Main bidding on their role/native item above minimum EP
2) Main bidding on their role/non-native item above minimum EP (Bid off spec and call it out in vent)
3) Main bidding on their role/native item below minimum EP
4) Main bidding on their role/non-native item below minimum EP (Bid off spec and call it out in vent)
5) Alt electing to spend GP on their/role/native item above min EP (Bid off spec and call it out in vent)
6) Main electing to spend GP on an off spec item above min EP (Bid off spec and call it out in vent)
7) Alt electing to spend GP on their/role/native item below min EP (Bid off spec and call it out in vent)
8) Main electing to spend GP on an off spec item below min EP (Bid off spec and call it out in vent)
9) All other off spec bids receive equal priority

How to win items:

1) Item drops you want.
2) Select Main or Off Spec on the EPGP Lootmaster window that pops

If you want the item, BID on it, don't worry about where you are in the system, let us sort that out. That said we do ask that if you bid on non-native items you bid off spec and announce you are willing to pay for it on vent.

Finally as with all guild polices this is subject to change. This not a legal document; sometimes exceptions will be made. Where possible they will be announced in advance, but the loot officer for the night can impose certain sanity checks on items. Anyone trying to deliberately manipulate this system will be dealt with (likely severely)

Please note that this week we will start enacting minimum EP as described above.

In order to prevent a very few people from dominating the system for the first couple weeks of having high enough EP for minimum EP to take effect, I will start the minimum EP at 3000 EP and raise it by 1000 each week after the saturday raid (when I do the 10% decay). I will continue to raise it until we reach the minimum described in the above post, which is subject to change.

So this week, everyone with 3,000 total EP or above will get first shot at gear.

EPGP system has been updated.

Changes:

- Raised "ready" bonus to 150EP

- Lowered Penalties

- Added signing up to the raid as as requirement for the "being ready to raid bonus"

- Added procedures for sitouts as well as raid invites

- Added guidelines for Off specs/alts

- Added Reference information section which offers guidelines for items with two GP cost (these will not apply retroactively), as well as a loot priority chain to clear up any confusion

- Other minor changes to bring what was written more in line with how we have been using the system

I've made a post in the members forum explaining the changes in a little more detail, as well as the reasoning behind some of them.

If you have any comments or questions, feel free to post them in that thread:

Added recipe policy:

Recipes:

Loot Council, unless there are at least 2 in the guild already. At which point the eligible crafters over minimum EP roll. This applies to recipes that do not create BoP items.

Updated Orb policy:

Orbs:

Members above minimum EP can bid on items which we've had a recipe drop. The cost will be determined by multiplying the number of orbs in the recipe by the cost of that particular orb. Members are responsible for supplying all non-orb mats. Orbs are not up for bid individually.

Runed Orbs: 25 GP
Crusader Orbs: 40 GP

Effective immediately decay will be 20%

We'll lower minimum EP by 500 each Saturday until it reaches 5000.

We're making this change to make it more difficult to hoard points. This will also effectively raise the minimum attendance aspects of the system.

Feel free to PM me or make a post in the members forum if you have any questions.

Update:

Raised minimum DPS to 4k for ICC. Any DPSer below this will likely be asked to sit-out until they improve.

Also added the following to the sitouts policy:

You can only earn points in sitouts if you signed up for the raid. We will allow a member to earn points if they forgot, but not more than once every 30 days. In addition new members will have a 1 week grace period. If we notice members intentionally coming late just to sitout we'll address them on a case by case basis.
