people were afraid to do anything against a skilled opponent because they would get super combo'd off a parry. |
Yeah, I remember that shit. I think Raun enjoyed the roll super, tho.
I played it a little last night. It's got some stuff that's going on that confuses me. I played a few online games and destroyed a few people and then tried some ranked games and got destroyed in turn. I am so rusty and before I was rusty I wasn't very good... It'll take a while getting used to it. |

Couldn't tell ya, I never got into 3rd Strike. I really never cared for the parry system. It's partly why I don't even wanna bother with SF4. |
It is not as dominating as it was in SF3, its more for fake outs. It has a pretty bad frame recovery. From what I have read it is much more defensive, and rarely used |
there are no parries in sf4, you are a retarded.
after playing it for the last few days i can confirm that it plays more like the old "dont jump you idiot" classic style.
no air blocks or parries to save you and there is much sitting on fireballs.
the new mechanic is pretty big though, it is called a focus attack.
if you hold mp/mk your character begins to attempt his focus attack.
every character has one and my character, gouken, has the donkey kick omg its awesome.
after about 2/3 seconds, the attack comes out as a melee range, unblockable hit that crumples your opponent and gives you the opportunity to follow up with a combo.
you will only hit retarded people with the big version.
while charging it however, your character can absorb 1 hit without losing focus.
you can release mp/mk at any time to deliver 1 of three strengths of the attack.
basically you can eat a single hit then stuff this move down their throat for a crumple attack.
it wont work if their attacks are coming in at combo speed.
i have been messing around with it against the computer and it is pretty fun.
capcom added it because they wanted players to have a combo starter other than jumping in.
i like the game a lot so far. |

For shame sir. If you cannot bring your skills to the arcade, what good is it. Buy a square gate arcade pad!
And the "ex armor" eats or parries that first initial attack, as part of the focus system.
Dude have you tried boxer? It feels like a much more challenging Urien, the charge system feels smoother to me then shotos or 360 characters. You can unload your ultra/super after a full focus/dash. It is awesome. My next major purchase will be a next gen system.
Again, april 17-19th, ufo arcade HUGE sf tournament |

i think i will watch the good parts on youtube but have a fun time!
as for playing mike bison, no i am not.
i am only playing gouken while getting accustomed to the controller.
i have also switched the location of my fierce and roundhouse with my medium and forward.
i could not use the two trigger buttons to reliably go to focus attack.
i am in a transitional period. |

Cant wait to play you then. We have been trying to do a monthly food and sf4 night, you would be a welcome addition!
I have been nerding out hardcore about this game. I am very excited about the ufo tournament, I do not think I will do well, but watching will be amazing.
EVO and sf4 will be great, sf3s for me got boring due to everyone playing chun/yun. I am hoping some low tier character smashes everyone like Iyo did in japan. |

i fucking hate akuma.
that damn character leaves no openings.
the best you can hope for is a player error so you can punish his tiny life bar. |

I agree. He is such a glass cannon. I enjoy the pressure and rush down combos. Hasn't he always been like that? I remember he was a beast in Alpha3, but one meaty combo = half life.
That and I have read theory pages on being sneaky with his instant hell murder, or whatever his ultra/super is.
on an unrelated note I made my own Gnocchi!!! |

my brief google analysis of the word gnocchi has left me wondering why you would want to make that or be proud that you have.
back on track, my gouken is beginning to rule.
now i need a new tv so i can set up the xbox next to the router.
if anyone knows what i need to do to hook an xbox 360 up to a computer monitor, i would appreciate the advice. |

potato dumplings = triumph
Dude if we could play online that would be amazing. We could still have the social aspect of trash talking via xbox live in the comfort of our own homes!
7 days until the tournament, get hype |

daigo umehara plays against iyo's japanese champion dhalsim in an exhibition match after the gamestop u.s. national championship:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSiOyDKgp5Q
the combo at 4:28 of that video requires esp to perform.
justin wong won the tournament using rufus, then daigo crushed him in the exhibition 4-0. |
