It's missing a couple I hate...
Their and there and "they are" and they're
Your and "you are" and you're
Of course, many folks online are lazy and don't care if they look like an idiot or not.
If a player writes a request for a feature in a game I'm working on grossly improperly, I usually ignore their post.
Yes, I'm an elitist english snob. |

I have followed the "a or an" rule for years. I always wondered the exact definition, as I see professional writers, columnists, and reporters using it wrong almost every day. His definition is spot on.
The latest one I've been wrangling with is "lit" or "lighted". They're essentially the same tense, but I tend to think of "lit" as the correct past tense of something already illuminated. |

When I first started playing WoW, before being in a guild, I ignored all "guild recruiting" announcements or invites that contained poor grammar and spelling. Everyone is going to make a mistake sometime (or have a bad typing day), and "internet abbreviations" are obviously acceptable in the game, but I didn't want to be associated with a bunch of ignorant people.
Thus, I am in Scalebane! Which truly contains some of the most intelligent people I've encountered ("Fedolisms" are obviously the exception to this...but I love him anyway!) |

He obviously disagrees. Of course, when I'm told by my bosses to read a thread that has grown to 500 posts in the space of a few hours, I have to sift through the intelligent posts and the posts which aren't.
The tons of private messages a developer gets can be very overwhelming. |
